Selecting a realtor can seem like a first of many difficult steps in the process of selling your home. I was prepared to interview at least three realtors to determine a good fit for my home-selling process; after meeting with Abi, I knew my search could stop and I had found the perfect person. Abi’s calm & professional demeanor, along with her experience and background gave me assurances that I would be in good hands through out the selling experience, even though I was entering an unfavorable selling market.
Although I received and accepted an offer extremely quickly, the escrow process was not as easy. Years ago when you first entered the field of Real Estate we, as friends, promised you that if we ever decided to sell our house on Jarana Court in Valencia, we would give you the first opportunity to do so. Well, after living in our home for almost 30 years, that time came last November and, as promised, we called on you to list our house for sale.
We were amazed at how complex selling or buying a house had become since we bought our first house in 1969, sold it in 1977 and bought the Jarana Court house. Things seem to have been much simpler then. The purpose of this letter is to let you know how impressed we were, and still are, at the calm, prepared, knowledgeable, and professional manner in which you approached each of the complex issues that need to be addressed to sell a house.

When they say, “dreams can come true” they must have talking about Abi Swisher. Three and a half years ago my best friend, Marci, purchased a home in the Shutters division and there was a home down the street that I fell in love with the moment I saw it, but it was not the right time for me to purchase. Marci had told me that when I was ready to start looking I needed to call Abi Swisher because she was the best. Fast forward to June 2005 and I was in the market to start looking for a home. To understand why a home of my own and to put down roots was so very important is to know a little about my background. My parents were in the Air Force and we traveled around the world and then some. Upon graduating high school I joined the Air Force and traveled around the world and before I knew it 20 years had flown by and I retired to Valencia in July 2000. I contacted Abi and told her what I wanted and I felt that from that first moment that she knew exactly what I was looking for. She was patient and understanding when every house that I saw I wanted to put in an offer for or when I wanted to go to open houses when she was in Hawaii without her. Abi knew that all good things come to those who wait (boy was she ever right). Anyway, upon her return from vacation, Abi calls me and tells me that there is a single family home available in the Shutters division in my price range and asked if I could meet her there in the next couple of hours. When she gave me the address, I kept thinking this sounds really familiar, but I did not think too much about it. So imagine my shock and sheer delight as I pulled up to the house that I looked at 3 and a half years ago to see that it was for sale. As we went through the house it looked the same as it did when I saw it last and I knew that this was the one! We completed the offer paperwork and to say that I was on pins and needles would not be an exaggeration. The next day as I was on the treadmill in my gym, my phone rings and it is Abi, telling me that the owner has accepted my offer. As I am falling off the treadmill and shouting to all that can hear that I am going to be a homeowner, Abi gently reminds me that the next 14 days are crucial and we have our work cut out for us. Over the next 14 days, Abi expertly assisted me through all of the inspections and paperwork that needed to be completed. I felt like I was the center of her existence and her only client – strike that – it was more like a friend versus my realtor. To make a long story short, I have never met anyone like Abi, her contacts within the community, professionalism, customer service and expertise are second to none. Throughout what would otherwise be an arduous process Abi explained, in great detail and in a very comprehensive manner, what all of our options and the associated timelines were.
Abi was also a stabilizing influence. She was able to anticipate our anxious moments and did an excellent job diffusing what otherwise would have been some very panicky moments.
She did a great job representing our business interests to the Buyers of our home. We received many realtor referrals from friends and coworkers as we started the search for our first home. We worked with two different realtors, but were very dissatisfied with the lack of organization and confusion resulting from consulting with the agent, the agent’s buyer, the agent’s escrow coordinator, etc. We never knew who to contact to answer our questions and often felt like we were doing a great deal of clean-up work. Throughout the process, we never felt once that we were left in the dark. Abi was calling us as much as several times a week updating us on the most recent event. I’m a first-time homebuyer and want to tell you about my experience. After enlisting the help of six different realtors in disparate localities, I stumbled upon Abi Swisher. I had found an interesting house on the Internet listed with RE/MAX and called. Abi answered and after listening to my desires regarding a place, directed me to an area neither I nor anyone else I know had ever heard of. Ed and I fell in love with it. Natural surroundings, privacy, and close enough to the city to make a living. Abi was markedly different from the other realtors I had dealt with. First of all, she listened! So many realtors sent me to inappropriate locations, wasting my time. Abi called and faxed immediately when anything filled my wish list, even unto tracking me down while I was at a mortgage lender to let me know of a property that had just come up while I was still in the area. Furthermore, she always returned my calls immediately, even on Sunday. On one occasion Abi sent a multiple listing with the house of our dreams on it. Unfortunately, it was in escrow. Now most realtors would have dropped it right there, but not Abi. She watched that property and called the representing realtor. It fell out of escrow, and thanks to Abi, we were there the next morning and got it. Without Abi, Ed and I would certainly have missed it. Being a first-time buyer, I was ignorant and Abi was patient, knowledgeable and gave good sound advice. In addition to being a kind-natured person, she was competent without ever being pushy. I made a wish list for my house and got everything on it. If I were to make a realtor wish list, I would simply call it Abi Swisher. She was instrumental in our happiness.
